WHIMSY ALPACA SHOOT // AMAZING GRACE ALPACA FARM // FREMONT, WI

Alpaca Wedding Inspiration Shoot by Meghan Lee Harris Wisconsin Farm Barn Wedding Photographer

Guys, SO embarrassing it has taken me this long to get this session on my blog, it sorta got put to the bottom of the list after client inquiries starting coming in! This fun, spur-of-the-moment shoot took place last May, before I had any clients or weddings or sessions on my calendar. Back when I was just playing around with my camera and running with my ideas! The inspiration for this shoot hit me after my coworker Sally invited me to come over sometime to take pictures at her Alpaca Farm. I honestly didn’t even know what an alpaca was so I had to google it. They are these gorgeous, adorable, fuzzy creatures! My inspiration kicked in and I imagined an engagement session or bride dressed up with the alpaca! The more I thought about it the more I loved it. I wanted something fun, quirky, and different, to show brides that they can do some off-the-beaten path things on their wedding day, like having some llamas or alpacas as guests 😉 And let’s be real I also really just wanted to play dress up with alpaca.

Crazily enough this idea has kinda blown up this past year, have you seen the articles floating around in the wedding world?! What do ya think? Would you have some furry guests strolling around and entertaining your guests? My sister graciously offered to model for this shoot and Sally chose Hope to model, the alpaca she thought would cooperate best (with animals ya just never know!). Being May I wanted something springtime-y so we used my sister’s petal pink David’s Bridal gown she already owned from wearing to my own wedding. Romantic, blush, flowy, it’s technically a bridesmaids dress but I think it could still pass as a gown for a bride looking for something simple, budget-friendly yet still different. We also loved it cause it is convertible! You can play around with it, twist it different ways, add some sleeves if you get cold. Lauren of Flower Mill LLC got on board and provided the bouquet and flower crown, sticking to soft pastels. And of course we didn’t leave Hope out, she got her own greenery crown too! We weren’t sure if she would try to bite it off the entire time, but once we put it on she started prancing around with a SMILE on her face. Seriously, this animal was GLOWING!

Just as we were settling in and getting the models used to each other, Sally’s husband came running and they began panicking. I’m thinking, what could be wrong?! Turned out one of the alpacas was about to give birth, like RIGHT then and there, and needless to say they were both caught off guard! We ALL were caught off guard! There was no time to call the doctor, so together we all anxiously watched the mother give birth. Saw the baby plop out and everything. It was a littttttle more alpaca than I wanted to see that day 😉 but seeing the baby newborn come to life and WALK before my own eyes. Wow. I think I need to be a farmer in my next chapter, how amazing would raising some alpaca be!? Anyway, this day was SOOO spontaneous, SOOO much fun, and SOOO dang cute! Here’s a few favorites! Enjoy!
