BRI & DYLAN’S ADVENTUROUS DOOR COUNTY ENGAGEMENT SESSION

Anytime Alex and I spend time in Door County we always make a detour to Cave Point County Park. Even though it’s a far reach from all the quintessential tourist towns and wineries, the unbeatable scenery and cliffs are always worth the extra trek. We don’t get a ton of this in Wisconsin, so when we stumble upon places like this, they are a GEM! Bri & Dylan are from Chippewa Falls but were open to traveling wherever for their engagement photos! I listed Cave Point as a recommendation and was so happy they decided to take me up on it. They planned a getaway weekend with friends at a rental cabin, happy to get a break from the business of life and hang with friends and simply enjoy the beautiful fall season in Door County!

Well we ended up having an abnormally cold weekend for mid- October. A chilly 40 degrees and CRAZY strong winds (I don’t mind a little wind in a session but this was something else). I had come here several times over the past years, but pulling up to the parking lot I felt I was entering some apocalyptic setting!! Oh. no! haha. The winds were so strong they were creating these mega waves that would crash and shake the actual ground beneath our feet! It was quite crazy.

Bri & Dylan arrived all dolled up, Bri in this epic royal blue formal gown. I knew this outfit would be perfect for the moodier cliff shots & both of them were down for whatever, even if meant getting a couple sprinkles on them.

Well I kid you not. Within five minutes of us starting this session, a tidal wave came out of nowhere and and crashed against the rock they were standing on, engulfing them before my eyes (even my own camera got soaked!) Five minutes in and this poor couple is soaking wet (Did I mention it was barely above FREEZING)?

Okay sooo what did we do next. Call off the session, warm up with hot cocoa, and reschedule for next morning? Noope. Bri & Dylan brushed it off like no big deal, ready to keep going, and it ended up turning into one of my favorite engagement sessions & company to date. They switched to some warmer snuggly clothes and wrapped around a knit blanket (that I was oogling the entire time), brought out their adorable fur babe LEO! Their two friends Brittany and Matt who were staying in the cabin also tagged along with us and ended up being the best assistants (thanks guys!!!)

On an adventure high apparently, all six of us ended up taking an impromptu hike (climb) off the side of this path in the woods to get to the other side of the hill (girls idea to cheat & take a shortcut!) and it led to this beautiful remote spot in tall grass overlooking Lake Mich. Bri & Dylan poured the wine, and I just couldn’t help but think. Yuupp these are my people!

Seriously though. Sometimes sessions don’t go as planned, but I love seeing what each couple makes of it (as a person who gets a thrown off when things I envisioned don’t go as planned, I am always so inspired by who my couples make each unexpected situation so great). It truly says so much about Briana & Dylan’s character and it makes me so excited for their wedding TOMORROW. I know we will be in the best of company!

Without further adieux, here are some previews of their chilly but super warm-hearted session with us! ♡
