ELISE + RYAN // EARLY SPRING WEDDING // LIVING WATER LUTHERAN CHURCH – OSHKOSH, WI

Elise Ryan Spring Wedding Ceremony Peach Mint Inspiration by Meghan Lee Harris Oshkosh Neenah Appleton Wisconsin

The blog has bloomed with new spring inspiration! Elise and Ryan said “I do” this past March, opting for a small, intimate ceremony with just their closest family and friends. Elise & I became good friends while working together for three years at the office, she watched me grow my little business and was one of my first cheerleaders! I was soo honored when she told me she wanted me to be the one to photograph her wedding day! Elise and I always joked about how we’re basically the same person. I mean who else nonchalantly describes themselves as “an old soul but young at heart” in those exact words. Cause I was sure I was the only!! (I’m still pondering if that makes sense or if it’s a contradiction). Getting to work with my coworker-turned-friend and kindred soul, I knew being a part of their day would be nothing short of magic! We started on the planning from the get go, and probably spent way too much time discussing ribbon colors, but Elise was my detail queen and it was SO fun watching her vision come beautifully together.

Then there’s her Ryan, the jokester of the office. Goofy but at the same time such the gentleman. Ryan is her perfect fit, always making sure Elise has that glow about her all of us love so much. When they first began dating he gave her nonstop flower bouquets for months (really it was months!!), and this caring, giving nature never wore off. No matter what crazy thing happens, Ryan is always right there by her side, always so patient, so caring. Seriously a stand up guy. Working at the office brought them together and the world is SO happy it did!

Their wedding vision was so fitting for early March, “the past of winter just beginning to melt away as the future spring breaks through.” Sage-y mint greens and peach tones. The perfect mix of winter and spring. Her day was coming together beautifully as planned, and then one month before their wedding Elise came crutching into the office with a broken foot. This sweet girl actually apologized (to ME!) so worried she had ruined the day as far as photos go. As you can imagine, a million thoughts were going through her head like how am I going to walk down the aisle? Will I have crutches in pictures? How do I pose when I can’t stand on two feet?

Whether you’re dealing with unexpected weather, a hair crisis, a ruined cake, or a broken foot, unfortunately nothing is ever going to go quite as planned on your wedding day. So when I heard the news, yes I knew it was going to be a challenge, but I also knew the day would still go on and it would still be JUST as gorgeous. We got a little creative and worked around these limitations, and these photos actually became some of my favorite work yet. They put the bride to happy tears! I normally don’t like to focus on the stressful side of a wedding day, but I really want brides out there to know that although every wedding looks perfect on Pinterest and blogs, they’re not! Weddings are living, breathing, events. They are unpredictable as they are beautiful, which is why my job will never get old.

So excited to share Elise & Ryan’s wedding day with you, scroll down to see some of my all-time favorite photos. And make sure to scroll to the end for all the vendors who played a part in this “winter-meets-spring” inspiration!
