When it was time to ultimately face a difficult decision to come up with a Plan B for their wedding day, Megan & Spencer decided to make the most of it, keeping their original wedding date and instead choosing a beautiful cabin and grounds along the Chain o’ Lakes in Waupaca to celebrate with their closest family and friends. The area made perfect sense, as Megan had grown up in Waupaca and eventually would come to meet her future husband while they both were working at The Harbor during summer of 16′!
Megan was describing the area to me, letting me know there was one lake where “the water is very pretty” but little did I know walking up to Marl Lake for their first look would my breath completely be taken away. This place was tealer than Lake Tahoe and right here in our beautiful state of Wisconsin. I could not wait for Megan to come down those steps and for Spencer to finally see his beautiful bride.
I was continuously surprised throughout the day in the best little ways. Megan’s dress and the delicate lace detail, the florals by Ebb & Flow were the prettiest and went so perfectly with the mismatched brides in different shades of dusty rose. The arbor Megan’s dad built. The vibe. You know, you never would have realized that it was only a guest list of only a few dozen people, because all day long the air was filled with laughter, conversations, family and friendship, selfies by photo booths, and breaking out into full on dance moves – there was no shying away from anyone! This day was SO much fun and if this is the “new norm” I’m 100% down.
Congratulations Megan & Spencer. I know it wasn’t the original vision, but I hope you look back on this day with the happiest of hearts. Your intimate, backyard fete in a meaningful place with the most important of people as witness. Alex and I are so happy to have been a part! Enjoy!
